Placement in Clinical Supply department providing support to the Cork Engineering and Technology team. Providing support for process design, process start-up, trouble shooting, process efficiency improvements, capital projects and new technologies for the Cork Clinical Supply team.
This role has included;
  • Collaborating on SOP updates
  • Assisting on conduction of Gap Analyses
  • Helping manage document tracker
  • Safety metric recording and trending (I presented to clinical supply team on a weekly basis)
  • PPI metric recording
  • Experience with NPI, scaling and adapting processes to pilot plant.

Widening Participation Unit Student Assistant (October 2017 - May 2019)
Taking part in activities involving many courses that Queen’s offers with the aim to encourage young people to pursue tertiary education. Roles included; engaging with students in upper primary, years 8 - 12, AS, A Level and from colleges and community education centers participating in the Queen’s Academy Programme; facilitating small group discussions and activities on subjects; signposting potential students to suitable sources of help, support and guidance and also gaining knowledge of the Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Groups Act. This role developed my knowledge and understanding of the issues and barriers that pupils from Widening Participation backgrounds face when considering or applying to Higher Education. This role also allowed me to build on my teamwork skills as this was key to the success of the events. Communication was also key and had to be applied to the groups’ ages, interests, and backgrounds.

Assisting with university events including open days, conferences and graduations. Providing assistance in setup, directional support and within the gown store. This is a role which has required good communication and team work as well as adaptability as roles vary on an hourly basis from hospitality to manual labor to ceremonial.

2-day Work Shadowing (February 2015)
Assisted with analytics of products manufactured in their pilot plant. Observed the importance of keeping accurate, reliable, and meaningful laboratory notes, seeing how researchers at Norbrook do this gave me great insight. Importance of confidentiality and ensuring that information is not disclosed outside of the workplace was also highlighted.

AES Corporation - Kilroot Power Plant
2-day Work Shadowing (Through Insight into Engineering Programme) (January 2015)
Two days focusing on chemical engineering and mechanical engineering respectively. Gained understanding on how the two disciplines work within the company. Was given the opportunity to learn about AES operations as a global company and about the structure which vastly improved my commercial awareness.
