Courtney began her PhD with the Sustainable Hydrogen CDT in October 2020 in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first year of the PhD comprises of research and on taught modules. Many of the CDT events in this time were online due to the pandemic.

Sustainable hydrogen annual stakeholder event (October 2020)
Virtual edition of annual stakeholder event with talks from Rachel Grima (DRAX),  Kacper Stefaniak (Renewable Energy Catapult) and  Harry Karmazyn (Intelligent Energy). The event was followed by individual breakout groups for discussion.

International Women's Day Event (March 2021)
Organised event with 7 speakers from academia and industry with support from Professor Gavin Walker to celebrate IWD21.
Speakers included Eileen Yu, Begum Tokay, Monica Giulietti, Alison Mohr, Diana Raine, Michaela Kendall, Ayse Kasikci.

CDT Picnic, Nottingham (September 2021)
Helped organise first in person CDT event at University of Nottingham with activities including geocaching and a visit to Wollaton park.
